One key. One click. Saved, searchable and ready to paste.

Press Print Screen and click a window, or drag around just the part you need. It lands on your clipboard, saved with the date and time, and you can find it months later by typing a word that was in it. Mark it up, record your screen, copy the text out. 01Why not the free one?

Does what Snipping Tool can’t.

Snipping Tool is free, already on your PC, and it reads text and records the screen. For a quick snip it is fine. What you buy CopyThat for:

  • Find it again by a word in itType invoice and the capture with the invoice comes back.
  • Change the markup next monthArrows, callouts and text stay separate objects. Reopen and move them.
  • Numbered steps and approval stampsSteps that number themselves; stamps with your name and today’s date.
  • One key for each jobTo the clipboard, the editor, a file, or straight to text.
  • A PDF editor in the boxPDFthat comes with it: mark up, sign, fill forms, OCR.

And nothing to opt out of: Windows’ built-in tools route images through cloud AI features you have to opt out of. CopyThat has no cloud.

02The one nobody else leads withfound by a word inside it

Find any screenshot by a word that was in it.

Six weeks of house hunting, eleven listings captured, and the one with the blue kitchen is somewhere in a folder of Screenshot 2026-08-14 211703.png. In CopyThat you type blue kitchen.

Every capture is read the moment you take it, and the words inside the picture become the search. Not the file name, not a tag.

CopyThat — Capture library the real window
The CopyThat capture library window. Under the heading it reads: every capture is read locally by OCR, type any words that appeared on screen, matching is case-insensitive and any word can match. Below the search box, six captures are shown as thumbnails with their date and the first words found inside each one.
Not a mock-up. The caption under each thumbnail is the first line of text CopyThat read out of that picture.
The strip of recent captures along the bottom of the CopyThat editor. The word confirmation has been typed into the search box at the right, and the strip now reads 3 of 6 and shows the three captures that contain that word.
The same search without leaving the editor. Type confirmation and the strip keeps the three captures that contain it.

03What it does for youone job per row

The jobs it makes short.

CHANGE IT NEXT MONTH

Come back in March and move the arrow.

Save the capture and every mark stays a separate object: drag it, retype it, resize it, delete it. No starting again because one label was wrong.

CopyThat — CopyThat_2026-09-18_13-41-15.png 5 marks
A captured house listing inside the CopyThat editor. The asking price is highlighted in yellow, two red numbered step markers sit over the photograph, a line of red text reads ask about the garage loft, and a curved red arrow points at the Request a tour button.
Five marks, each still an object the next time you open it.
GET THE TEXT OUT

Copy the words out of any picture.

A PDF that will not let you select? Press Ctrl+Alt+PrintScreen, drag over the words, and they land on your clipboard as text you can paste. Read on your PC, never on a server.

HIDE THE CARD NUMBER

Black out the card number before you send it.

Redact is an opaque box, not a blur someone can undo, and it flattens into the picture when you export. Find sensitive text finds emails and card-number-like digits so you can redact before sharing.

CopyThat — redact before you send it 2 boxes
A captured order confirmation inside CopyThat. Two solid black bars cover the line headed Confirmation sent to and the line headed Paid with; the rest of the receipt, including the order number and the totals, is still readable.
The CopyThat status bar reading: PRIVATE — stays on this PC. Added 2 reviewable redaction box(es). Export or Flatten to make them permanent.
Two opaque boxes, and the app’s own status line, unedited.
SHOW THE STEPS

Show the steps once, numbered, and stamp the approval.

Numbered steps count themselves, so seven captures become one instruction sheet. Approval stamps carry your name and today’s date, baked into the proof at placement. No other capture tool ships that out of the box.

RECORD IT

Record it with your voice and your computer’s sound.

Record the screen with your microphone, your computer’s sound (a Zoom or Teams call, say), or both, and add a voiceover afterwards. CopyThat reminds you that recording a call may need everyone’s permission. Video → GIF… turns a clip into something you can paste.

SHOW THE AI

Show the AI what you see instead of describing it.

Press the key, drag the box, press Ctrl+V in the chat. The picture is already on the clipboard: no save dialog, no file name, no attach button in between.

04What it sends, and to whomPRIVATE — stays on this PC

Yours, local, and easy to get approved.

What CopyThat sends over the internet

  • Once a day: one question Once a day, and whenever you check by hand, CopyThat checks for updates. It sends its version number, which edition it is and how it was installed, a random install code, and a licence code we can match only to the order it was sold under, so we can see if one licence is being shared across many computers. It never sends your email, your licence key, or anything you capture. Help › Check for updates automatically turns it off.
  • Activation: nothing Activation happens on your PC: the key carries its own proof, so there is no account and no activation server. Nothing can lock you out.
  • Never Your screenshots, recordings, copied text or search index. No analytics, and nothing about what you capture, open or click. Crash logs stay in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CopyThat\logs.
  • Only if you set it up Hosted sharing uploads to your own server and asks before every upload. Nothing reaches us.
  • The installer Code-signed, so Windows knows exactly where it came from.

One license, one person. The full privacy policy says the same in more words.

Who’s behind this

Why it exists.

Thirty-five years running my own business, then a year next to an AI — typing paragraphs about a window open in front of me. Both problems had the same shape: the picture should already be on the clipboard.

The short answers.

Is CopyThat worth it?

If you take screenshots every week and ever need one again, yes. It is $39 once, what Snagit charges for one year. Try the whole app for 15 days with no card first.

How do I make Print Screen open CopyThat?

On Windows 11, Print Screen opens Snipping Tool by default. CopyThat asks which key you want and can switch Windows’ shortcut off for you; Capture settings gives it back, and so does uninstalling. To do it by hand: Settings › Accessibility › Keyboard, then turn off “Use the Print screen key to open screen capture”.

What happens if you change your pricing?

Nothing you already bought changes. Your key never expires and the version you have keeps working forever. If you are on the update plan, we email you before every renewal charge and you can cancel any time; cancelling never breaks the app.

Is it a subscription?

No. $39 once for the app. Updates after your first year are optional; skip them and the version you have keeps working forever.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. The full app for 15 days, no card, no account. When it ends nothing is deleted and nothing uninstalls; saving waits for a key.

All the answers

How it starts

Every feature, 15 days, no card.

Type your address and the signed installer link lands in your inbox. On day 16 the app keeps working; saving waits for a key.

One email with the link, no autoresponder. We may follow up about your trial; we never sell or share your details (privacy). support@copythatnow.com.
