Snagit alternative for Windows

The Snagit alternative
you buy once.

  • Pay once, keep it forever
  • No account to make
  • No cloud: it stays on your PC
  • 3 PCs on one key

Snagit is a good screenshot tool, and since 2025 it is a yearly subscription with a sign-in. CopyThat does the everyday jobs: capture, scrolling capture, mark-up, screen recording to video or GIF, and copying the text out of any picture. You pay once and own it. Every capture is saved with the date and time, so you can find it months later by typing a word that was in the picture.

No card for the trial. Windows 10 and 11. Code-signed.

Compared with Zight and Droplr

Cloud sharing tools rent you space. CopyThat keeps your screenshots on your PC.

Zight and Droplr are built for uploading a capture and sending a link, and they charge every month for the storage. If you mostly paste screenshots into email, chat, tickets or an AI tool, you don’t need the upload. CopyThat puts the picture on your clipboard the moment you click, saves a copy on your PC, and never sends it anywhere.

Compared with PicPick and Movavi

Also paid every year. Neither lists finding a capture by its words.

PicPick Pro and Movavi Screen Recorder are both renewed yearly. Neither website lists copying text out of a picture or searching old captures by a word inside them. Over three years, CopyThat costs less than either.

Questions people search for.

Is there a Snagit alternative without a subscription?

Yes. CopyThat is $39 once for Windows 10 and 11. Your key never expires. Updates after the first year are optional, and if you skip them, the version you have keeps working forever.

Can I buy Snagit as a one-time purchase?

Not any more. TechSmith moved Snagit to a yearly subscription in 2025: $39 a year for an individual, and the app stops when the subscription ends (techsmith.com, checked October 19, 2026).

Does CopyThat do scrolling screenshots?

Yes. Pick scrolling capture, and CopyThat scrolls the window and stitches the whole page into one picture.

Can it copy text from a screenshot?

Yes. The words in every capture are read on your PC, with nothing uploaded. Copy them out, or type one later to find the capture.

Why pay when Windows Snipping Tool is free?

Snipping Tool is good for a quick grab. CopyThat saves every capture with the date and time and makes it searchable by its words. It also adds mark-up tools, approval stamps, GIF recording and PDFthat, and you can put Print Screen on your choice of action.

Will it run on a Mac?

No. CopyThat is Windows 10 and 11 only. If you need one license for Windows and Mac, Snagit covers both.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. You get the full app for 15 days with no card and no account. When the trial ends, nothing is deleted; saving waits for a key.
